Regulations on the department

In July 1956, the Department of Human Anatomy of the Lugansk State Medical University was founded. From 1956 to 1984 the Head of the Department of Human Anatomy was Iryna Chaikovska - doctor of medical sciences, professor, honored employee of the higher school.

h4.1

Under the direction and with the participation of professor Iryna Tchaikovska, the Department has carried out work on the problems of higher education pedagogy: "Application of the method of individual tasks in the study of human anatomy". Iryna Chaikovska is the founder of the Lugansk Regional Union of Anatomists, Histologists, Embryologists, and a member of the Board of the Republican Union of AHE. The main direction of the department's research during the period of professor Chaikovska's leadership was the study of cyto- and angioarchitectonics of various parts of the human brain in normal, ontogenetic, and pathological changes.

 h4.3

Professor V.G. Koveshnikov was a highly qualified teacher, paying special attention to problematic lectures. He prepared and published several dozen textbooks on normal anatomy. Under his editorship (together with Prof. I. Bobryk) the "International Anatomical Nomenclature" was published (2001), and under his editorship the textbook "Human Anatomy" was published in 3 volumes (in Ukrainian, Russian and English). Professor Koveshnikov is a well-known anatomist not only in Ukraine but also abroad. He has made presentations at international congresses (USA, India, Mexico, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, etc.) He was an intern at New York University in the United States. The results of his many years of research have been published in more than 600 publications, including two dozen monographs. Among them are "Dictionary of Terms and Concepts in Human Anatomy" (1980), "Medical Anthropology" (1992), "Skeletal Tissues" (2000) and others. The professor is the author of five inventions and 11 innovations. Professor Koveshnikov has trained 19 Doctors and 53 Candidates of Medical Sciences who work in Ukraine and abroad. Many of them have headed and still head the morphological departments: Prof. Y. Fedoniuk (Ternopil), Prof. V. Sikora, Prof. A. Romaniuk (Sumy), Prof. N. Kashyrina, Prof. V. At the same time, Professor V. Koveshnikov was the rector of Lugansk State Medical University from 1984 to 2003 and significantly improved both the material and technical base of the university and the quality of training of the scientific and pedagogical staff.

Under the leadership of Professor Koveshnikov (1984-2010), the Department of Human Anatomy developed a new scientific direction: "Influence of environmental factors on the morphogenesis of bone, immune and endocrine systems", the department received new premises with new technologically advanced equipment for the educational process (classrooms for dissection, freezers, cadaveric storage, fans) and scientific work (morphometric, histological, electron microscopic laboratories, vivarium). The Department participated in the development of morphological aspects of disaster medicine. This work was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine. The department annually hosted scientific and practical conferences "Morphogenesis of bone, immune and endocrine systems in the conditions of industrial region", "Biomineralogy". In 1998, the II National Congress of Anatomists, Histologists, Embryologists and Topographers was held in Luhansk, where Professor Koveshnikov was elected Chairman of the Scientific Society of AGET of Ukraine. In 2002, he was elected Honorary Chairman of AGET. In 1997, the Department opened a doctoral program, which was successfully completed by Associate Professor V. In the period from 1997 to 2000 he studied for a doctorate under the supervision of Professor V. Koveshnikov at the Department of Human Anatomy (he was the first doctoral student in the history of the university). In 2001 he defended his dissertation on the topic "Features of growth, structure, formation and regeneration of skeletal bones under the influence of some non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation."

Since 2003 - Professor of the Department of Human Anatomy. From 02.2006 to 09.2010 - Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of Lugansk State Medical University. Professor V. Luzin is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Medical Almanac, Executive Secretary of the Ukrainian Morphological Almanac, member of the editorial board of the Vestnik Maritime Medicine and Problems of Osteology.
