Scientific Research Work

Research Topics for Scientific Research Work Planned by the Department of Pharmacy:

Scientific Research Topic: Determination of Heavy Metals in Various Analytes.
Supervisor of the Research Topic: Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor V.S. Bondar.

This topic is dedicated to the study of toxic elements (such as lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, etc.) in pharmaceutical drugs, dietary supplements, plant raw materials, water, and other substances.

The scientific work includes:

  • Development or improvement of analytical methods (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry, ICP-MS).
  • Quality control of pharmaceutical products.
  • Evaluation of the safety of drugs according to the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine (SFU).

Scientific Research Topic: Biopolymers in Pharmacy and Medicine.
Supervisor of the Research Topic: Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor E.Ya. Levitin.

The research covers the study of natural and synthetic biopolymers (such as alginates, chitosan, gelatin, PEG) and their use as bases for pharmaceutical forms, films, gels, and implants.

The focus of the work:

  • Creation of new biocompatible materials.
  • Evaluation of pharmacotechnological properties.
  • Study of the release of active substances from polymer matrices.
  • Application in tissue engineering and transplantation.

Scientific Research Topic: Improvement and Development of New Methods for the Synthesis and Storage of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.
Supervisor of the Research Topic: Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor V.V. Kotova.

This direction focuses on finding effective synthetic pathways for obtaining new or known active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), as well as researching the conditions for their stability and storage.

Research tasks:

  • Optimization of chemical synthesis.
  • Search for less toxic reagents.
  • Study of API degradation.
  • Creation of storage conditions that extend shelf life.

Scientific Research Topic: Pharmaceutical Aspects of Drugs and Dietary Supplements from Cannabis Species.
Supervisor of the Research Topic: Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor O.Ye. Oxenyuk.

This scientific work is dedicated to studying the chemical composition, pharmacological activity, and technological aspects of creating products from cannabis (Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, etc.).

The research includes:

  • Analysis of cannabinoid content (CBD, THC, CBG).
  • Development of phytopharmaceuticals and dietary supplements.
  • Pharmacological justification for use in pain, anxiety, epilepsy, etc.
  • Regulatory and legal aspects of the legalization and production of cannabis-containing products.
